A Rai of Sunshine of North Florida Inc. has been supporting individuals in Alachua County since 2008. Founded by Sunnie McCant, our organization was born from personal experience and a deep understanding of the challenges faced by families with members who have disabilities.
In 2025, we expanded our services to Jefferson County and surrounding areas, bringing much-needed support to this under-served region. Our goal is to create a community where families feel connected, supported, and empowered.
We recognize that rural areas often lack adequate resources for individuals with disabilities and their families. By establishing a presence in Jefferson County, we aim to fill this gap and provide essential services to those who need them most.
A Rai of Sunshine of North Florida Inc. enhances the lives of individuals with disabilities in Jefferson County and surrounding areas by providing essential support and resources. We also offer assistance to both aspiring and existing entrepreneurs.
With a collective commitment to the welfare of individuals with disabilities, A Rai of Sunshine of North Florida brings together individuals who share a common goal: ensuring everyone lives a happy and healthy life.
In the rural communities of Jefferson County and surrounding North Florida areas, families with members who have disabilities often face unique challenges. Access to support services, resources, and community connections can be limited.
A Rai of Sunshine was founded to address this critical gap. We recognized that families needed more than just information—they needed a supportive community, practical resources, and opportunities for connection.
Our organization emerged from the understanding that in rural areas, the lack of support systems creates significant barriers for individuals with disabilities and their families. We're here to change that.

The principles that guide everything we do
We believe in the power of community connection and support. No family should face challenges alone.
Everyone deserves access to resources, support, and opportunities regardless of their abilities or circumstances.
We empower individuals and families with the tools, knowledge, and connections they need to thrive.
Having these support systems being built in rural areas is transformational. When you look at our entire region, we are basically in somewhat of a provider desert when it comes to support and services for people who have different needs.— Heather Cox-Rosenberg, Community Member
